 Mariculture is the growing and farming of marine organisms. There is a large production of a hatchery that occurs when setting up a mariculture production. Once the larvae grow to a larger fish size, they are corralled into various pens so they can continue growth.
 Mariculture is also used to grow oysters for the purpose of harvesting pearls.
 The process of mariculture has been used to enhance the stock populations fish released back into the water.
 The growing and farming of marine species is mainly limited to high-value seafood. The fastest growing of and the most profitable sector of mariculture is shrimp.
