Sitting on the floor, cross-legged is not recommended; instead, have the child sit with legs in front and together, bent at the knee if the child has variable muscle tone, straight if the muscle tone is tight. Sitting in a W position with knees forward and a foot on either side of the body is particularly disadvantageous for the child.
