Teachers need in depth knowledge of typical development as well as specialized knowledge of specific disabilities. They need to individualize their teaching. Teachers must be objective and factual. They must be able to document classroom behavior in accurate, objective language. Their records should withstand the test of careful scrutiny by other professionals. Keeping up with these heavy demands can be very stressful for teachers.
