Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: b

Answer to Question 2

It is important for children to grow up with a sense of tolerance toward people from different ethnic backgrounds, from different religions, of different ages, and with various disabilities. Children need to understand that there are bonds that tie all humanity together. Subtle and overt forms of racism have existed and continue to exist in both society and in some childrens books. Educators have a responsibility to prevent and overcome bias and racism. Eliminating books with bias from classroom use is one of the ways this can be accomplished. Multicultural literature, on the other hand, provides benefits to all children. It responds to their curiosity about the world, takes advantage of their interest in the rhythms of language, and reinforces their participation in the human family, which is not bound by ethnicity or culture.
