Educators have a responsibility to prevent and overcome bias and racism. Eliminating books with bias from classroom use is one of the ways this can be accomplished. Multicultural literature, on the other hand, provides benefits to all children. It responds to their curiosity about the world, takes advantage of their interest in the rhythms of language, and reinforces their participation in the human family, which is not bound by ethnicity or culture.
