RATIONALE: Scaffolding occurs when an adult assists a child in developing their own skills. A
scaffold supports and then steps back when the child can operate independently.

Answer to Question 2

Time-out can be used to break the pattern of disruptiveness and to assure the child that
teachers follow through when they say, I can't let you.. Time-out is always
reserved for serious situations.
