Answer to Question 1

Steps that contribute to effective scaffolding include:
1. presenting challenges for new learning.
2. offering assistance with tasks that may be too difficult.
3. providing instruction.
4. encouraging the child's interest and motivation.

Answer to Question 2

Conservation is the concept that the number or amount of something is the same,
regardless of changes in appearance. Students can describe any two of the
conservation tasks, but be sure they mention the initial presentation, the
transformation that the child watches, and the question asked.
