Answer to Question 1

To keep risk for E. coli at a minimum, several measures should be taken. First, all fruits and vegetables should be washed. Next, all hamburger meat should be cooked to a temperature of at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit, and that should be checked with a meat thermometer. Foods such as raw cider, alpha sprouts, dry-cured salami, raw milk, and raw milk curd should be avoided.

Answer to Question 2

One of the best ways to get children to eat new foods is to cook foods with them. It would be even better if you could grow or purchase the foods together. Children are more likely to eat foods that they have prepared. Field trips also help, as will reading books and watching videos that might encourage children to try new things.
