Food jags occur for a number of reasons. One reason might be that very young children are much more sensitive to flavor. They could also be bored with the foods commonly served in care and be holding out for what they enjoy. A teacher may also be tested to see how he or she reacts to the child's demand for the one food. This is a common task in reaching for self-rule. Some children are afraid to try new things, and so may need many exposures to a food before it becomes acceptable.
