The mesosystem is the next level of influence and includes interactions among the various microsystems. The exosystem includes influences with which the child is not directly involved that affect development and care, such as parent education, parent workplace, and the quality and availability of health and social services. The macrosystem consists of the values, laws, resources, and customs of the general culture in which a child is at the appropriate level for learning to occur.
