Mr. Adams has a family history of colon carcinoma and colonic polyps. He is seen in the endoscopy suite for colonoscopy. Colonoscopy revealed about ten small polyps in the rectum and transverse colon. All polyps were coagulated and removed with the hot biopsy forceps. No other mucosal lesions were identified. Pathological examination of the specimens revealed hyperplastic polyps and no evidence of malignancy. The patient tolerated the endoscopy well and was awake, but sedated, throughout the procedure.
