Forecasts are necessary because no rational planning can proceed without projections of future demand, revenues, and expenses. All organizations must have some idea of what future receipts and expenditures might look like in order to ensure that the right amount of supplies are purchased and workers hired.

Transparency in pricing refers to the availability to all buyers and sellers in the marketplace of all prices available to consumers. The Internet has hastened transparency in travel and tourism.
