Answer to Question 1

THC is used to stimulate appetite in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or in AIDS patients. Smoked marijuana has more rapid effects, and some believe the patient can better control the effects via smoking. Also, some other chemical in cannabis might have a therapeutic benefit in addition to the THC.

Answer to Question 2

Antihistamine, such as chlorpheniramine maleate, for runny nose; sympathomimetic, such as phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine, for stuffy nose; analgesic-antipyretic, such as acetaminophen, for aches and fever; and dextromethorphan for cough.
