Why is the term anorexia nervosa a misnomer?

The term anorexia nervosa literally means a lack of appetite. The individual with
anorexia nervosa does not lack an appetite. The true problem with the anorexic is a fear of
gaining weight which leads to not eating, as opposed to a true lack of desire for food.
