People with paraphilias can be assessed by law enforcement, self-report, behavioral observation, physiological tests, or personality inventories. Of these physiological tests may be the most reliable. Personality inventories do not specifically address paraphilias, but are helpful in identifying patterns and additional psychological disorders.
