Answer to Question 1

d

Answer to Question 2

Many women and men remain single as young adults to focus on establishing their careers rather than on marriage or relationships. The pressure to marry is especially strong for women. Men tend to remain single longer in young adulthood because they tend to marry at a later age than women. Fewer men than women remain unmarried throughout adulthood because men find partners more easily as they select from a larger age range of unmarried women. Nearly twice as many African Americans are single during young adulthood as European Americans. Latino men expect to marry because it indicates achievement. Adults who are temporarily single are only single until they find a suitable marriage partner. Those who choose to remain single identify more with singlehood than with marriage.
