Answer to Question 1

Bisphosphonate drugs act by inhibiting bone resorption. Selective estrogen receptor modulators act by inhibiting bone resorption but do not have the adverse effects of estrogen on the breast and uterus. Calcitonin act by inhibiting osteoclasts that break down bone. Parathyroid hormone-like drugs act by increasing bone density by stimulating osteoblasts.
