Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
Catecholamines cause hyperglycemia and immune suppression. Catecholamines do not cause nu-trient absorption, fluid retention, or hypotension.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Stress increases ACTH secretion. ACTH regulates the release of cortisol from the adrenal cortex. It is not stimulated by high serum cortisol levels. Neither hypotension nor hypoglycemia stimu-lates ACTH secretion.
