Increased sympathetic activity causes constriction of the afferent and efferent arterioles and thus a marked decrease in renal blood flow. Intense sympathetic stimulation can produce marked decreases in renal blood flow and GFR. Aquaporin-2 channels, potassium ions, and albumin do not have vasoconstriction properties.
