With a patient undergoing a noncovered elective procedure, the medical office manager must discuss with the patient the payment of the full amount. With a covered procedure, the conversation will be about the patient's financial portion of the bill and any necessary insurance forms or paperwork, including referrals or preauthorizations that may needed.
