Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

The actual benefits are immeasurable, but the following are the main ones students should realize are there for the taking: experience in the allied health field, a foot in the door for possible job openings at the site, refining the technical skills of the allied health specialty, referral for employment at a neighboring or affiliated office/facility, industry networking (including follow-up contact with site supervisor for arising opportunities), added experience to put on the rsum (including description of externship duties), and professional references and/or letters of recommendation for use in the job search. Emphasize that it is the student's own determination and action that will yield benefits for them personally and professionally.
