Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 2
Abnormal cell firing in the brain causes the recurring seizures characteristic of epilepsy. The symptoms of loss of consciousness and headache have multiple causes (trauma, medications, diet) but are not associated with abnormal cell firing. Decerebrate posturing is caused by serious brain injury, specifically to the cerebellum.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1,2
The incidence of Alzheimer disease does tend to increase with age, and AD is thought to have a familial link. AD is more common in females and its cause is unknown.
