2. Hypertension causes vasoconstriction, and can cause permanent damage to the optic nerve. Clients with hypertension should be encouraged to have regular eye examinations.
3. Surgery is not indicated at this time.
4. Colonoscopies are recommended after the age of 50.

1. The client is exhibiting symptoms of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Jaundice is not a sign of an aneurysm.
2. The client's temperature is not relevant.
3. Workplace responsibilities would apply if the client were having back pain.
4. Mid-abdominal pain when a client is hypertensive should alert the nurse to check the abdomen for a pulsating mass and listen for a bruit.
