2. The client should be given 100 oxygen immediately to compensate for the increased metabolic rate.
3. The client is never immersed in icy water (shivering produces more heat).
4. If the temperature has not dropped to 102 F, a cooling blanket is used.
5. If cold packs are available they should be placed on the client's groin.
