Answer to Question 1

B
Antiviral therapy can decrease the risk of HIV transmission to the fetus. HIV passes through the placental barrier and infects 25 percent of fetuses of HIV-positive mothers who do not receive antiviral therapy. Breastfeeding of infants of HIV-positive mothers should be avoided, because HIV can be transmitted to the infant through breast milk.

Answer to Question 2

A
Bathing the infant with non-alkaline soap will help prevent skin breakdown. Alcohol will dry the skin, making it more prone to breakdown. Using paper tape when securing IV sites will cause epidermal stripping in the preterm neonate. Lotions must be used with extreme caution to prevent skin drying and epidermal stripping. These should not contain perfume, alcohol, or any other drying agent.

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.
