Answer to Question 1

D
Nursing the infant to a goal of 15 minutes per side will provide adequate milk supply. Five minutes per side is not adequate time for the breast to be emptied. Unless there is a pathophysiological problem with the infant, waking the child every 3 hours shouldn't be necessary. Normally, the infant feeds on demand every 2 to 3 hours. Nursing only on one breast at each feeding today for 5 minutes will encourage engorgement.

Answer to Question 2

2
Rationale:
1. Cord compression results in variable decelerations.
2. Early decelerations are most often related to fetal head compression.
3. Uteroplacental insufficiency results in late decelerations.
4. Hypoxia results in decreased variability.
