Answer to Question 1

A
Herbal licorice is a Class 3 herbal according to the AHPA; thus it should be used only under guidance of an expert. Chaste berry has no known side effects and is Commission E-approved. Valerian is a Class 1 herbal according to the AHPA, meaning it is considered safe, with no restrictions. Milk thistle is Commission E-approved.

Answer to Question 2

A
Like us when we experience sensory overload and adjust by leaving the situation, the newborn will look away to reduce the intensity of the interaction. Showing increased alertness and eye contact, responding with coordinated, synchronous body movement, and drifting off to deep sleep to shut out the interaction are not characteristic of the overstimulated infant's behavior.
