A multipara has previously given birth to a fetus that has been older than 20 weeks of gesta-tion.
A nulligravida is a woman when has never been pregnant.
Para is the term to define pregnancies that have gone past 20 weeks.

The nurse should first assess the woman's knowledge and skill in breast-feeding to determine her teaching needs.
Assessment should occur before instruction.
