Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

Scrambled merchandising is the result of pressure being placed on retailers to increase profits by carrying additional, unrelated merchandise or services. This is based on the old axiom that The more merchandise the customer sees, the more they buy.. Examples include drug stores where nearly half of customers are not there to have a prescription filled but to buy substantially higher margin items at the front of the store. Convenience stores also offer low margin gas prices while selling higher margin items such as bread, milk, cigarettes, lottery tickets and fast food. Services that are being offered include ATM machines, phone cards and gift cards. Supermarkets are adding banking, dry cleaning and even medical clinics in their stores.
