Answer to Question 1

D
All sums of squares are positive. If one finds a negative value for a sums of squares, there must be an error somewhere.

Answer to Question 2

B
The sums of squares within groups is found by subtracting the sums of squares between groups from the total sums of squares. There is no treatment sums of squares.
