Answer to Question 1

Functionalists view socialization as the basis for society. The process of socialization assumes continuity and stability as the ways of a society are passed from generation to the next. Conflict theorists view socialization as a process that perpetuates inequality and the status quo. Individuals are socialized into the social class of their family, and once this socialization takes place it is difficult to overcome.
