According to the radical left view,
 
  a. racial and ethnic inequality are one part of a larger pattern of exploitation in capitalist society.
  b. the United States has made enormous strides towards ensuring that everyone has both legal rights and personal dignity.
  c. minorities must overcome disadvantages through individual effort.
  d. some ethnic categories have always outperformed others and this will likely continue

Race is a socially constructed category based on physical traits that members of a society define as important. Race has nothing to do with being human; all people belong to a single biological species, Homo sapiens (Latin words meaning thinking person), that first emerged in Africa some 250,000 years ago.
 Ethnicity is a shared cultural heritage, which typically involves common ancestors, language, and religion.
