  c. minorities must overcome disadvantages through individual effort.
  d. some ethnic categories have always outperformed others and this will likely continue

Race has nothing to do with being human; all people belong to a single biological species, Homo sapiens (Latin words meaning thinking person), that first emerged in Africa some 250,000 years ago.
 Ethnicity is a shared cultural heritage, which typically involves common ancestors, language, and religion.
