You are called to see a 9-month-old baby who has stopped breathing. The mother's boyfriend is babysitting and states that the infant fell off the couch. The baby is lying in the crib. There are no obvious signs of trauma. The child is lethargic and breathing slowly at a rate of 8/min. Skin is warm, and capillary refill is normal. Heart rate is 140 . The left pupil is dilated and fixed. The right pupil is mid-position and reactive. Linear bruises are present on both upper arms. Management of the infant should include all of the following, EXCEPT:
 
  a. stabilization of the cervical spine.
  b. intubation and hyperventilation with high-concentration oxygen.
  c. infusion of 20 mL/kg of lactated Ringer's solution.
  d. reporting of possible child abuse to the ER physician.
