Answer to Question 1

Compared to normal and early-maturing girls, late-maturing girls are likely to have a stronger self-concept and be more popular with peers.

Answer to Question 2

Backward fading is an instructional technique to help students improve their ability to solve multistep problems. The procedure starts with the teacher providing to students a completely worked out solution to a multiple-step problem. Then she gives them a similar problem in which all of the steps are worked out except for the last one, which the students must solve themselves. Then she gives them another similar problem in which the last and next-to-last steps must be solved by the students. This process continues until students are given a similar problem in which none of the steps are worked out. A teacher would use this method because it produces better results than just giving students worked examples or practice.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
