Logan is an employee who processes health insurance forms. Initially he was criticized by his supervisor for sloppy work, but thereafter he improved considerably.

However, Logan's supervisor has not responded to the extra effort he has put in, giving him no praise or monetary benefits. This leads Logan to believe that his supervisor is biased against him. Group decisions are generally more accurate than the decisions of the average individual in a group but less accurate than the judgments of the most accurate. In terms of speed, individuals are superior. If creativity is important, groups tend to be more effective. And if effectiveness means the degree of acceptance the final solution achieves, the nod again goes to the group. With few exceptions, group decision making consumes more work hours than if an individual were to tackle the same problem alone. Because groups can include members from diverse areas, the time spent searching for information can be reduced. Groups are generally less efficient than individuals.
