Answer to Question 1

Traditional benefit plans were based on the assumption that all employees desired the same package of benefits. This did not account for different family structures or individual needs. A cafeteria-style benefit plan recognizes individual differences in which benefits are desired. The plan allows employees to select exactly which benefits they want most. This leads to a package of benefits that is most desirable to the employees. With reference to expectancy theory, the employees select the benefits (rewards) that are most desirable (valence) to them.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
