Cloud services offer companies the opportunity to expand their infrastructure without worrying about maintenance and the expense of the equipment. Cloud services are especially useful for handling peak loads. For example, a retailer may have twice the normal load during the Christmas holiday. Rather than paying for infrastructure that is idle most of the year, they can purchase cloud services to handle the peak.
