Answer to Question 1

Methodology is a set of methods, rules, practices, procedures, techniques, and tools used to achieve a goal, or we can define methodology as the theoretical understating of the principles that determine how such methods, practices, tools, etc., are used. In other words, method defines a tactic, whereas methodology defines the strategy. Often, a tactic makes sense only in the context of strategy. Technology, on the other hand, means an understanding of techniques, but it also refers to the vast landscape of applying scientific knowledge to practical use. Methodology is needed for the effective use of technology, but technology also continuously sharpens and transforms methodology. Consider all the methodologies for analyzing financial markets, and then imagine them without tools such as spreadsheets or databases. In software development, thanks to ever-improving modeling and programming tools, methodology and technology overlap so extensively that one might not notice the distinction between the two. The object-oriented approach to system development is a methodology using object-oriented technology.
