Answer to Question 1

3
Explanation: 1. Sign-on bonuses have an effect similar to salary compression. A sign-on bonus may be a quick
fix for a nurse shortage, but may lead to dissatisfaction and turnover of long -term employees.
A bonus will not affect the wage scale. The bonus does not recognize experience.

Answer to Question 2

2
Explanation: 1. Salary compression is the effect of higher starting pay of new nurses resulting in lower salaries
for long-term employees. This is a quick fix to a nursing shortage, but a dangerous strategy,
and it may result in dissatisfaction and turnover of more experienced nurses.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
