Three conditions must be met before psychomotor learning occurs. Learners:
 
  1. Must be able to memorize a simple set of data and use their hands effectively
  2. Must master the skill at the time is it taught, repeat it back to the teacher, and teach another person
  3. Must be able to speak the language of the teacher, have access to practice labs, and master the skill in a short time
  4. Must have the necessary ability, a sensory image of how to carry out the skill, and an opportunity to practice the skill
