Methodologically, the main design issue in quantitative studies is whether the research design provides the most valid, unbiased, and interpretable evidence possible. Indeed, there usually is no other aspect of a quantitative study that affects the quality of evidence as much as research design. RCTs are the gold standard for intervention studies (Therapy questions) because they yield the highest-quality evidence about the effects of an intervention.
