Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
The independent variable in a study is expected to be the cause, and the dependent variable is expected to reflect the effect of the independent variable.
The number of subjects in a case study is very small, but the number of variables can be quite large.
Homogenous implies that all is the sametherefore no variables because nothing varies.
Replicated studies may have many variables, determined by what was done in the original study.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
A research design is a blueprint for conducting a study that maximizes control over factors that could interfere with the validity of the findings.
Validity cannot be guaranteed, but threats to validity must be minimized.
All researchers, whether conducting a qualitative or quantitative-designed study, adopt a particular design for their study.
A model might form the basis of the hypothesis; it is not the research design, which is a blueprint for how the study will be conducted.
