1, Discuss how citizen participation is important in a democracy because it allows citizens to take action to influence what government does or does not do. The quality and effectiveness of laws may be determined by the level of participation from those most affected by the laws.
2, Provide two examples. These might include volunteering for an organization; working with neighbors to fix problems; attending public meetings; discussing politics; showing support for a party or candidate; or taking part in a march, protest, or rally.
