Answer to Question 1

An ideal response will:
1, Define the concept of newsworthiness as the factors needed to encourage the media to pay attention to a particular story, with a particular focus on those that will attract an audience.
2, Discuss those factors. These can include novelty, drama and human interest, a familiar narrative (e.g., conflict), or a dramatic visual.
3, Provide an example of a newsworthy item using those factors, such as stories about Lindsay Lohan.

Answer to Question 2

An ideal response will:
1, Discuss the fact that media ownership in the country is concentrated in just a small, limited number of corporations.
