Answer to Question 1

Compulsive exercise is characterized by a compulsion to exercise (more than just a desire). If enough exercise isn't completed, the person feels anxiety and guilt. People who compulsively exercise often define their self-worth by external measures, and they exercise to try to feel more in control of their lives. Excessive exercise can result in bone and joint injury and stress to the cardiovascular system. Compulsive exercisers often also suffer from anxiety and/or depression. They may neglect their academic studies or social activities in favor of working out.
