The obvious lack of detailed regulations often makes it easier to practice health information management because the HIM professional is freer to apply creative trends from human medicine that will work best for health care delivery for patients and procedures in the veterinary practice.

They not only provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services for animals of various species and uses, but also are engaged in protecting human health through the roles they play in environmental protection, food safety, and public health.
