Answer to Question 1

Equine (horse) patients are considered to be large animals, whereas llamas, bears, big carnivore cats (tigers, lions, etc.) and ratites (ostriches, emus, and rheas) are considered to be large exotic animals.

Answer to Question 2

These animals usually are cared for under the direction of the staff zoological veterinarian; some animals, such as wolves, may be unpredictable and could seriously injure a health care provider, the client, or other patients in the health care facility.
