A HIM consultant deals with procedures related to the documentation, storage, and retrieval of patient records. Consultants provide advice on the development of systems to provide timely, appropriately accessible patient information to caregivers and administrators. Also, a consultant visits the dialysis unit periodically to review a sample of records and to discuss procedures for record maintenance with facility staff.
