Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

SpineAssist is a robot that can be clamped on a patient's back. Doctors take a picture of where the spine surgery will take place, and a computer plans the robot's path. The robot creates a three-dimensional map of a patient's spine. This makes it possible for the surgeons to plan exactly where to place pins or make incisions. Following the path, SpineAssist actually drills into the patient's vertebrae. According to one recent paper in Spine, SpineAssist raises spine implant accuracy to 98 percent. One report stated that it reduces hospital stays by one-third. SpineAssist has successfully completed 2,000 surgeries
